The latest exhibit at the Mudpuppy Gallery has a very “woodsy” theme to it.

“Wood is Good” is now on exhibit at the Mudpuppy Gallery through March 2. The exhibit features a variety of different artistic mediums with wood being the recurring theme.

Shannon McPherson, one of the artists that make up the co-operative gallery, said it’s not just wood carvings, but anything to do with wood. That includes paintings and photography of wood barns, forests and any other wood-based theme.

McPherson pointed out that 78 pieces are part of this current exhibit.

“I think it’s a really good turnout,” she said. “There’s a nice mix.”

This winter’s snow and ice have led to a greater turnout, she believed.

“I think the weather played a big part,” said McPherson, stating that people likely want to be inside working on their art rather than be out and about in the winter weather. “I think people just don’t want to be out on the roads.”

The next exhibit at the Mudpuppy Gallery is their annual Recycling Show. That show features materials ranging from items in people’s blue boxes to old furniture that has been converted into art.

The Mudpuppy Gallery is located at 264 Dalhousie St. in Amherstburg. For further information, contact the gallery at 519-890-6421.
