University of Windsor social work students are collaborating with local business leaders to implement the “We Assist” program, which was developed by the Leamington Accessibility Advisory Committee.

This program benefits those with mobility or accessibility issues. Participating stores will have a “We Assist” sign at the entrance door. Program users can request assistance  at the service desk or register where a “We Assist” sign will be located.

Whether it is pushing a cart or reaching for an item, store employees will assist the shoppers. The Sobeys in Amherstburg has enthusiastically agreed to offer this program to their customers.

The “We Assist” program will compliment the initiatives that Sobeys already has in place and its commitment to the Amherstburg community.

Look for the yellow “We Assist” signs on their doors!
