The Verdi Club is presenting its annual festival this weekend with events running Friday through Sunday.

Festival committee chairperson Lucio Salvati said the committee and the entire club is eagerly anticipating the event.

“We’re definitely looking forward to it,” said Salvati. “Hopefully the weather co-operates and we have a very successful three-day festival.”

Friday’s highlights include the Corvette Club and the golf tournament, the latter being held at Pointe West Golf Club. The dinner follows back at the VC Lounge. In the evening, Bigg Wiggle performs outside in the pavilion with free admission for those 19 and over.

“Saturday is a huge day for entertainment,” Salvati stated.

Two evening attractions are featured, he noted, with one being inside the Verdi Club and the other outside on the pavilion. The inside entertainment will be a dinner show featuring “Legends Live” with tribute artists of Dean Martin, Tim McGraw and the Blues Brothers on hand as well as a Motown band. Salvati said tickets are $30 and features a chicken and pasta dinner plus the show. Tickets are available at the Verdi Club or at LA Hairstyles.

The outside entertainment is “Greatest Hits Live” with a portion of the proceeds going to the Miracle League of Amherstburg. Opening band “One Man Out” takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. with “Greatest Hits Live” starting at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available at the gate.

“We have fireworks Saturday as well,” said Salvati.

Salvati said Sunday “is a full day of family activities” which include a ball hockey tournament, bake sale, VC “Summer Show Booths,” a bocce tournament, clowns, fire truck displays and live entertainment which includes bands, a kids show, a talent show and an accordion playing contest.

“We have tons of kids activities all day,” he said.

Salvati said the festival will prove to be a “great place to come out to, socialize and have a good time.”
