Tires and rims valued at almost $42,000 stolen from local dealership


Tire theftTire theft2Aburg Police Logo Rev-webThe Amherstburg Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in finding those connected with the theft of almost $42,000 of tires and rims from a local vehicle dealership.

Amherstburg police state unidentified individuals attended Racicot Chrysler, located at 462 Sandwich St. S., early Wednesday morning. Police say these individuals took tires and rims from two Jeep Wrangler Rubicons, and seven Dodge Ram 1500 pickups.

In total, ten BF Goodrich LT255 75 R17 tires were stolen from the Jeep Wranglers and 28 Goodyear Wrangler P275 60 R20 tires were stolen from the Dodge pickups.

According to Amherstburg police, surveillance video showed a white cube van entering the Racicot Chrysler lot at approximately 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Two other vehicles were observed on surveillance video; however the makes and models could not be determined from the video, police add.

While the cube van was leaving it struck a large sign that depicted a photo of what the renovated dealership building would look like, with police stating there should be damage to passenger side of the vehicle.

The value of the theft was approximately $41,767.60,
