Mailboxes reported damaged in rural areas



Amherstburg police are reporting that mailboxes have been damaged in rural areas over the past week.

Mailboxes on Texas Road and Concession 4 North were reported to be damaged last week. The Amherstburg Police Service asks that residents be alert for suspicious activity and report any such suspicious activity to police.


Theft   — Sometime overnight last Tuesday-Wednesday a white utility trailer that was parked on Whelan Dr. was stolen. The trailer had “Amped Electrical Contracting Residential Commercial Industrial” on it with the license plate being M7130R.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Amherstburg Police Service.


Mischief   — A vehicle parked in the 300 block of King St. was struck with minor damage sustained. It was reported to police Feb. 20 but the damage is believed to have occurred overnight. There are no suspects but Amherstburg police encourage anyone with information to come forward.

Accidents   — Amherstburg police state a four-door Lincoln was located in the ditch at Alma St. and Concession 6 North last Saturday around 2 a.m. According to police, a 19-year-old male driver had been picked up by his mother. Police say the driver has been charged with failing to stop at a stop sign.

  • 1:40pm, A 2014 Chevrolet Equinox was parked and struck by a 2004 Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 29 year old Amherstburg male, that was reversing from a driveway.  It occurred around 1:40 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Park St. The matter was still under investigation as of press time.


Assault   — Amherstburg police were called to the 7800 block of Howard Ave. last Saturday around 9 p.m. for an alleged assault involving a cab driver and a 51-year-old male fare from Windsor. The cab driver was allegedly assaulted but declined to lay charges.


Stats   — There were 250 Calls for service last week.  A total103 Traffic related charges laid.
