Theft reported from in front of Venetian Dr. home


The Amherstburg Police Service report that a Herby Curby waste container was taken from a local home late last week.

The theft was reported to police last Friday around 6:45 p.m. It occurred in front of a home on Venetian Dr. Police say there are no suspects.


Breach   Amherstburg police attended a home in the 200 block of St. Arnaud St. for a call of what they say was an male who had been drinking. As a result, officers arrested and charged a 24-year-old Amherstburg male with failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking. Police say the conditions were alcohol-related.

It occurred Nov. 28 around 8:15 p.m.


Stats   There are 33 charges laid last week under the Highway Traffic Act and other related traffic regulations. There were also five 911 hangup calls and four alarm calls that Amherstburg police responded to.

Two charged after assault complaint



The Amherstburg Police Service laid charges against a pair of Amherstburg residents after an assault complaint on Murray St.

Police say the call came in around 11:20 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of Murray St. and resulted in a 24-year-old Amherstburg woman charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon. A 31-year-old Amherstburg man was charged with assault.

The investigation is ongoing.


Breathalyzer   Amherstburg police charged a 21-year-old Amherstburg male with demand not complied with in the area of Richmond St. and Pacific Ave. The Amherstburg Police Service states the matter occurred around 8:20 p.m. Sunday.

Thefts   Amherstburg police are investigating thefts from Canadian Tire that were reported last Thursday around 3:20 p.m. Two people allegedly entered the store and stole several items. The matter is still under investigation and people can call police at 519-736-2252 or Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477) if they have information.

  • A theft was reported at a Dalhousie St. restaurant last Sunday. It was reported at 5:15 p.m. It is not clear what was stolen.
  • A theft of a wallet was reported from a residence in the 3900 block of Concession 3. It was reported Sunday around 12:29 p.m.


Breach   Amherstburg police say a 23-year-old male was arrested and charged with three counts of breach Monday night. The matter was reported on Bratt St. and was reported around 10:50 p.m.


Mischief   A windshield was damaged by rocks while parked on Gore St. with the matter being reported to police Oct. 10. The matter is still under investigation and was reported around 4:40 p.m.


Stats   There were 46 traffic-related charges laid over the past week. There were also ten 911 hang-up calls and nine alarm calls.

Local man facing assault charge



A local man faces a pair of charges after allegedly assaulting a woman last Thursday afternoon.

The Amherstburg Police Service states that a female was walking on King St. last Thursday around 4:30 p.m. when she was allegedly assaulted by the male.

Police say he is known to her and is on conditions not to communicate with her.

The 20-year-old Amherstburg male was charged with assault, and fail to comply with undertaking.


Accident   A three vehicle collision in front of General Amherst High School took place last Wednesday morning around 11:05 a.m. Amherstburg police say it involved a black Chevrolet Cobalt, grey Ford Focus and a second grey Ford Focus. According to police, a 16-year-old male from Amherstburg was charged with following too closely.


Public intoxication   Amherstburg police state that a 67-year-old Amherstburg male was intoxicated in the area of Richmond St. and Fryer St. around 11:40 a.m. Oct. 3. It is further alleged that he was also found to be breaching conditions of an undertaking.    The man was arrested and charged with the breach.


Outstanding warrant   Amherstburg police say a 76-year-old Amherstburg man turned himself in and was arrested on an outstanding family court warrant. The matter occurred last Wednesday at 10 a.m.


Theft   A white 24” Supercycle bicycle was taken from the Tim Horton’s at Sandwich St. S. and Murray St. It was reportedly taken between 3:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 1. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppes.


Stats   There were 229 total calls for service last week. There were seven criminal charges and 36 traffic related charges.

Amherstburg police investigating thefts


The Amherstburg Police Service is investigating some thefts that were reported last week.

A bicycle was reported stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Gore St. Saturday night. Amherstburg police say that the call came in around 10:50 p.m.

Reported stolen was an 18-speed Huffy mountain bike that is blue and green in colour.

*A mailbox was reported stolen in the 6000 block of Texas Road last Thursday. The theft is believed to have occurred over the previous night. Police say the theft was reported to a residence.

Mischief Amherstburg police charged a 26-year-old Essex man with mischief after he allegedly broke property, including chairs and a cell phone, at a home in the 100 block of Sandwich St. S. Police state it was reported around 2:20 p.m. Sunday.

Breach Amherstburg police say they charged a 27-year-old LaSalle man for breaching a probation order. The charge was laid on Thrasher Dr. Saturday around 9:50 a.m.

Stats The Amherstburg Police Service responded to 11 911 hangup calls and seven alarm calls over the past week. There were also 51 traffic related charges over that same time period, police say.

Charges laid against local man after large fight



The Amherstburg Police Service say there were charges laid against a local man following a “large fight” at a Texas Road business.

Amherstburg police state that they were called to the Verdi Club around 1:48 a.m. Sunday on a report of approximately 15 people fighting. As a result, a 29-year-old Amherstburg man ended up being charged with three offenses. The man faces charges of causing a disturbance, assaulting police and resisting arrest.


Impaired driving   A local man faces charges of impaired driving after a traffic stop last Friday night. Amherstburg police state a 20-year-old Amherstburg man was arrested and charged on Front Road North around 10 p.m. Friday and charged with impaired driving and exceeding 80mg of alcohol in his system.


Mischief   Police state there was a report of mischief from a Pine Ridge Ct. resident after damage was done to the homeowner’s vehicle. Police state there was a hole punched in the rear window of the vehicle. It was reported last Wednesday around 7 p.m. but police say it is believed to have occurred during the afternoon.

Accident   A 26-year-old Amherstburg woman was charged following a crash at the intersection of Howard Ave. and Middle Side Road. The woman faces a charge of turning not in safety. Police add there were minor injuries as a result of the accident, which was reported Friday around 3 p.m.


Breach   A 23-year-old Amherstburg man was arrested for allegedly breaching his conditions. The arrest was made last Thursday on Richmond St., near Wolfe St.


Theft   Amherstburg police were called to General Amherst High School last Wednesday around 2:30 p.m. for a report of a theft. Police state that the student reported that a cell phone had been taken. There are currently no suspects.


Stats   There were 249 calls for service last week. Amherstburg police also responded to six 911 hang-up calls and seven alarm calls. There were also 60 traffic-related offenses from Jan. 9-16.
