Skate Amherstburg went “wild” Saturday afternoon as the local organization held its 43rd annual ice carnival.

Ice Carnival1 Ice Carnival2 Ice Carnival3 Ice Carnival4 Ice Carnival5 It was the culmination of months of work with coaches starting in October and skaters in February. Skaters included Mia Iannetta and Darian Tough, who won a gold medal in senior bronze dance at the Skate Ontario STARSkate championships and guest skaters Peter Drury and Judith Hall.

“We’ve got some good stuff this year. I’m excited,” said Skate Amherstburg president Sharon Kawai.

The show was close to, if not a complete, sellout. Kawai added the communications department at General Amherst High School filmed the show and she hopes that is a partnership that will be able to continue into the future.
