The County of Essex is advising that County Road 18, otherwise known as Pike Road, is currently the subject of a road closure due to bridge repairs.

The bridge over Big Creek is currently closed and will remain closed until mid-August.

A report from county engineer Tom Bateman advises that “the project will require full closure of County Road 18 for six weeks which will be accommodated by the establishment of appropriate detour routes.”

The project is part of the county’s 2014 rehabilitation program and carries an estimated cost of $346,000 plus HST.

The county states on its website that the closure is between County Road 9 (Howard Ave.) and County Road 5 (Meloche Road) with the closure projected to last until Aug. 22.
