First, the AMA Sportsmen Association teamed with local children to help build wood duck boxes.

Now, they are looking to the same for the Eastern Bluebird.

The AMA Sportsmen Association will be hosting an event this Saturday starting at 10 a.m. where children will be able to construct boxes for the Eastern Bluebird along with help from their parents, grandparents and club members. They will be assembling 40 boxes out of pre-cut wood and are inviting children from the community to join them.

Those with a cordless drill are asked to bring it with them. People who build a box will be given an opportunity to take it home and will be given an instruction sheet on how to place the box. Lunch will be provided for all helpers.

The AMA Sportsmen Club is also hosting “Big Buck Sunday” this Sunday starting at 9 a.m. The club states “this event is not all about ‘the biggest buck’” but also features the first archery 3-D shoot of the season, local vendors selling merchandise, sportsmen selling merchandise they no longer use and the sale of breakfast and lunch.

Someone will also be on hand Sunday to measure and score all antlers brought in.
