One suspect charged, police seek others after more thefts from vehicles

One suspect is facing charges while at least one more is being sought after thefts from vehicles were reported in the Golfview and Pointe West subdivisions.

A 30-year-old Windsor man is facing charges after numerous calls were received from residents of the two subdivisions Aug. 19 around 5:30 a.m. Police attended and located a man they say was allegedly in possession of stolen property.

The accused was arrested and charged with seven counts of trespass by night, four counts of possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break and enter instruments and mischief to property.

Amherstburg police believe other people were also involved. A photo was captured by surveillance cameras at a 7-11 convenience store at 925 Ottawa St. in Windsor of one of the additional people believed to be involved. Amherstburg police say they are looking to identify the individual.

The Amherstburg Police Service is reminding people to “Lock it or Lose it.” Police say that in order to deter these types of crimes from occurring, residents should lock their vehicles, homes, sheds and garages.
