The newest exhibit at the Gibson Gallery is showing off the works of artists from across Windsor-Essex County.

The Association of Representational Artists (ARA) see their “From The HeART” exhibit hang in the Gibson Gallery through July 14. It is a compilation of work done by 34 artists with roughly 50 pieces on the gallery walls.

“It’s all different mediums,” said ARA membership co-ordinator Trudy Dempsey.

ARA exhibitDempsey said works ranged from acrylics, oils and watercolors to colored pencils.

This is the third year the ARA has had an exhibit at the Gibson Gallery. The first two years were themed shows, including being asked to create War of 1812 bicentennial works last year, but this year’s show was opened up to whatever suited the membership and what they love to paint.

“This show is a show specifically for ARA members,” added Dempsey.

Dempsey stated the ARA hopes to have a larger show in the fall somewhere in Windsor – a venue hasn’t been finalized yet – but added the group will be back at the Gibson Gallery next year.

Some will also participate in this year’s Art By The River show, slated for Aug. 24-25 at Fort Malden National Historic Site of Canada.

“We’re always looking for new members, from novice to professional,” Dempsey added. “Anyone who is interested can visit us at”

The Gibson Gallery is located at 140 Richmond St. in Amherstburg. Their hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. For information, call 519-736-2826 or visit
