The town’s three OMHA championship teams were honoured once again as town council officially paid tribute to them at the May 5 meeting.

The midget majors, bantam majors and novice  majors appeared before town council to accept congratulations on their respective championships. The midgets and bantams also won the OHF titles while the novice Stars didn’t have an OHF tournament to advance to.

Mayor Wayne Hurst congratulated the three teams and said they showed “dedication, determination and desire” to play hockey and represent the town of Amherstburg.

“It says so much about the town of Amherstburg,” the mayor stated. “You have made Amherstburg proud and we are pleased with your participation.”

Hurst took time out to also praise the Libro Centre, stating that such a facility “presents opportunities” to young people to have such success.

Amherstburg Minor Hockey Association president Marc Renaud thanked the mayor and council, noting the work of families and parents are also worthy of congratulations.

“It’s a wonderful day again for Amherstburg,” said Renaud.
