When Nelson St. John went to check his lottery ticket a couple of weeks ago, he found out it was the biggest win he’s ever had.

St. John’s Lottario ticket was good for $250,000, the largest sum he has ever won playing the lottery. His largest lottery winnings prior to that was “years and years ago” when he won $1,000.

“I was very, very happy,” said St. John, who checked the ticket July 13, the day after the draw. “Everybody in the family is happy, that’s for sure.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Super Plus Convenience on Fryer St. He claimed his winnings in Toronto July 17 with the OLG announcing the win July 21.

St. John said the money has already been earmarked for what he wants to do.

“I gave a lump sum to my son and I’m going to do some house repairs,” he said.

With one lucky ticket already on record for St. John, he doesn’t plan on stopping playing the lottery.

“No use quitting,” he said.
