Long to lead Team Canada in ‘Border Battle’

Softball Canada has announced that Amherstburg’s Jeff Long has been selected to guide Team Canada’s Slo-Pitch Team at this year’s Border Battle being played in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Border Battle game will be played on Saturday, July 23 at 4 p.m,

It will be televised live on ESPN and will be on tape delay Monday, July 25 at midnight on TSN. This is the third year in a row that Long has been selected to coach the National Team at the Border Battle, with the series being even at a game a piece with Canada hanging on to a thrilling 30-29 in 2010 after Team USA winning the very first title by a score of 30-23 in 2009.

This year’s team has players from British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick. There will be three exhibition games against state champions from Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas prior to the tilt with Team USA.
