Local Scouts, Beavers and Cubs get “flying lesson”

Special to the RTT

Members of the Sun Parlor Remote Control Flyers club visited the 2nd Amherstburg Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts recently for a demonstration and flying lesson with some of their remote control machines.

Members of the Sun Parlour Remote Control Flyers stopped by Anderdon Public School recently where the 2nd Amherstburg Beavers, Cups and Scouts were meeting. The club gave the local youth demonstrations. The Sun Parlour Flyers meet at Tower Field, beside the radio towers on Concession 4 North.

The Sun Parlor members gave the kids an entertaining lesson on the physics of flight and then a fantastic indoor demonstration using a remote control plane, hovercraft, and a couple of their drones.

One of the highlights for the kids (and adults!) was experiencing the FPV (First Person View) goggles that were hooked up to the video cameras on the drones. This allowed the kids to see themselves and the area around them from the drone.

The kids were then invited to join the members at their flying field (located on Concession 4 North in Amherstburg) to experience outdoor flying when the weather warms up.  As a group we want to thank the Sun Parlor R/C Flyers for coming out to our meeting and sharing their hobby with us.
