Jumpstart receives donation from St. Joseph’s Knights of Columbus

Members of St. Joseph’s Knights of Columbus council donated a total of $3,189 to Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart foundation.

Jumpstart is an initiative geared towards giving children from families with financial need the chance to participate in sports.

The money came from a combination of the River Canard K of C’s bingos, a meat draw, and a car show which was two years in the making. The car show brought in the majority of the funds raised. It was held August 26, and saw 102 cars. The council didn’t require an admission fee, but instead asked for donations towards Jumpstart.

“The support of the community has always been wonderful in regards to Jumpstart and the Knights of Columbus have done an excellent job putting on a new car show so it was a pleasure to work with all of them in getting that organized,“ said Stephen Pike, manager of the Amherstburg Canadian Tire. “The money is always going to the children, and it allows them to participate in all sports and activities. It’s been a great program that Canadian Tire has put forward and the money that they are contributing is all going to it.”

All of the money donated in Amherstburg, stays within Amherstburg and is dispersed through the Amherstburg Community Services (ACS).
