Golden Gate Restaurant opens doors

The residents of Amherstburg will have a new option when choosing to eat out.

Yong Xiang Lin owner of the new Golden Gate Restaurant is opening his doors this week and offering something that has never been offered  to  Amherstburg before…a Chinese buffet.

“I’ve been cooking for a long time,” said Lin. “I really enjoy cooking.”

Golden Gate Restaurant located at 473 Sandwich St. South will feature a Chinese buffet with over 20 items to choose from, including sweet and sour chicken balls, noodles and deep fried shrimp.

Golden Gate Restaurant will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The lunch buffet will run from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for $8.75. Children ages three-five will be $2.50 and children ages six-nine will be $4.95.

The dinner buffet will run from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for $12.95. Children ages three-five will be $3 and children ages six-nine will be $6.95.

Golden Gate Restaurant will also feature a full menu for dine in and carry out. The menu features combination plates, family dinners and all the classic Chinese food favorites like General Tso’s Chicken.

Lin noted no MSG is used in the food.

Lin said he chose to open Golden Gate Restaurant in Amherstburg because he felt Amherstburg was a “nice town.” After discovering that Amherstburg didn’t have a Chinese buffet he thought he would capitalize on the open market.

“I’m very happy to be opening in Amherstburg,” said Lin.
