A garage fire in the 9100 block of County Road 41 not only destroyed the garage, but a vehicle that was inside the garage as well.

Amherstburg firefighters were on scene for roughly two-and-a-half hours knocking down the blaze. The cause is undetermined at the present time.

“When we arrived, it was fully involved,” said assistant deputy fire chief Lee Tome. “The garage is basically destroyed.”

The roof is now gone and a pickup truck inside the garage was also destroyed, Tome said.

The house on the property sat roughly 50-feet from the garage, Tome estimated, and he praised the work of firefighters in not letting the fire spread to the home. He acknowledged there was heat damage to the home’s vinyl siding, but there was no actual fire damage.

Tome added there were no injuries. He said shortly before 9 a.m. that he was still working to come up with a damage estimate.

(UPDATE: The damage estimate has now been provided and it sits at approximately $150,000.)
