Amherstburg’s Fighting Island Boxing Club’s next show is later this month and will be held at the Cameos Portuguese Club in Harrow.

The club is hosting a show April 26 with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the fights to get started around 7 p.m. Fighting Island Boxing Club owner/trainer Joe LeBlanc said he’s got at least five of his fighters booked and his hoping for more.

“I’m trying to get eight of them matched up,” he said.

There will be a minimum of ten fights on the card, LeBlanc added, with the hope of increasing that number to 12. Boxers will be coming in from not just the Windsor-Essex County area, but Michigan, Sarnia and Toronto.

“It’s a great show,” said LeBlanc. “We get good sponsorship and strong support.”

Among the fighters that Amherstburg’s Fighting Island Boxing Club plans to have compete that night are Steve Wigle, Quinn Greenaway, Tyson Whalen, Curtis Antonucci and Anthony Mulder. Noram Lachance is also tentatively scheduled to appear.

This will be the fourth show in Harrow, LeBlanc added, with the show usually being a sell-out.

Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door. Seating will be on a first-come, first served basis so LeBlanc advises people to get there early.

The Cameos Portuguese Club is located at 390 Sinasac Ave. West in Harrow, at the corner of Roseborough Road.
