FIBC to host boxing event this Saturday

The Fighting Island Boxing Club (FIBC) is gearing up for what is expected to be an entertaining show this Saturday evening.
The annual show hosted by the local boxing club will be held at the Knight of Columbus Hall and will feature roughly 10 bouts with five bouts featuring FIBC boxers.
Two-time provincial champ Noram “The Pitbull” Lachance will take on Winnipeg, Manitoba native Bradley Quinet in the main events.
Also in action will be Junior B novice (106 lbs.) provincial gold medalist Steve Wigle, Junior B open (98 lbs.) provincial silver medalist Jake Bozin and Junior B novice (132 lbs.) provincial bronze medalist Drew Lefaive.
Quinn Greenaway, who is appearing in only his second fight will also be lacing up the gloves.
FIBC president Joe LeBlanc said his fighters always look forward to fighting in front of their hometown.
“It’s always nice to showcase our local athletes,” said LeBlanc.
The long time boxing coach noted athletes like Wigle, Bozin and Lefavie could be senior national champions down the road.
“Provided these kids stay with the sport, they could easily be senior national champions,” he stated.
LeBlanc also mentioned after FIBC’s show wraps up the Knight of Columbus has agreed to stay open to show the Floyd Mayweather/Canelo Alvarez fight.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the fights will begin at 7 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15.
