The town will soon be participants in another Doors Open initiative.

Amherstburg will present Doors Open 2013 Sept. 28 in conjunction with national Culture Days weekend. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., over 22 sites will open their doors and “unlock the arts” fostering awareness and participation to all who support culture and the arts. Never before seen homes and sites will be open featuring local artists working at their craft while visitors enjoy the architectural treasures that make Amherstburg so unique in its history.

“Amherstburg is proud to participate in this phenomenal, nationwide program. We want to promote interaction with the artists in their homes or studios and at the same time highlight some of our rich cultural sites on the tour,” explained Anne Rota, the town’s manager of tourism and culture.

Site brochures can be picked up prior to the tour at the Visitor Information Centre at 116 Sandwich St. South or at the Gordon House, 268 Dalhousie St. in Amherstburg. There is no charge for the tour, admission is free.
