Cruise on Down and Go Car Crazy

By Jolene Perron

Amherstburg residents, get your cars waxed and your engines cleaned because it’s time to show off those crazy cars at Amherstburg’s 6th Annual Gone Car Crazy show.

This year the event will be held on Sunday, July 31st and the gates will open for participants at 7 a.m. and registration will begin at 9 a.m. for all those crazy and flashy cars.

The new entrance will now be  on Dalhousie St., which has been put in place to help “regulate the traffic” better than in past years since the amount of cars has only been increasing.

Showing starts at 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. with prizes to be drawn at 3 p.m. The entry fee is only $5 and you not only get to see all of the beautiful vehicles, but you also get to be entertained by many different performers such as an Elvis impersonator and the band Wheelin’.

There will be two stages, one in Toddy Jones Park and another on Dalhousie St., which will never be empty so the entertainment will continue all day long.

Attendees will also get a chance to buy tickets to try their luck in draws for door prizes throughout the day.

There will also be a new “special categories” feature to help with the controversy issue due to last year’s winning vehicle. The “Best of Show” award, renamed the “Paulie Award” last year in memory of Paul Renaud, founder of the show, will be given to the best car at the show

Local businesses are encouraged to decorate their windows in fifties theme to be judged for a chance to win “best window” in town and get in the spirit for Amherstburg’s Gone Crazy Car Show.
