Corey Meloche charity hockey game on April 8

The General Amherst Girl’s Hockey Team has less than a week before their most important event of the season, the Corey Meloche Skate for a Cure Charity game with Villanova.  It takes place at the UCCU Complex on Monday, April 8 at 8pm. Proceeds will go to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in memory of our former and first Captain Corey Meloche.  Corey’s family including her son Ben will be there that night for ceremonial faceoff.

We will use the same format as last year’s game where we mixed the Amherst team and Villanova team together to make two very competitive teams.  We played two 20 minute periods with a “Crazy Skills” competition in between.  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves last year so we thought we would do it again. This year instead of selling tickets we will be accepting donations at the door.    So PLEASE start spreading the word about the game and invite as many people (friends, family, strangers) to the game as possible. The Lady Gens has raised over $2500 in the past few years for various charities including the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the Amherstburg Goodfellows, the Amherstburg Food Bank, Amherstburg Minor Hockey and to help some local families who have dealt with serious medical issues and tragedy.  We are very proud of the Players that have helped this team make such a positive mark on their community.  See you at the rink on Monday.
