Comedy Show has crowd in stiches at Callard’s Pub and Grill

There were plenty of laughs to go around at Callard’s Pub and Grill recently.

The newly renovated bar played host to a comedy show, organized by bar owner Mike Callard and local comedian and Komedy Korner club owner Leo Dufour.

“We had a really good turn out,” said Callard. “Everyone who came said they had a great time.”

Callard said roughly 50-60 people attended the Sunday night comedy show that saw Dufour and four other comics perform their stand up act.

Callard said that Dufour was so impressed with the turn out that he wants to do a monthly comedy show at the local establishment.

“I don’t know if we will do it every month, only because I’m not sure if people will come every month,” said Callard. “If we did it every other month or something like that, I think that would work a little better.”

The 30-year-old bar owner said the idea of hosting a comedy show came from Dufour.

“Leo’s wife does my books and he approached me about doing a comedy show. I thought it was a great idea,” he said.

Callard’s Pub and Grill will also start featuring local bands and will starting up a poker league in the fall.

Callard’s Pub and Grill is open seven days a week from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m. and is located at 527 Sandwich St. S.
