Amherstburg tourism officials state they are hosting “the best birthday party ever for Canada Day at Fort Malden National Historic Site of Canada,” adding that “back by popular demand on the very same day is the Ice Cream Festival at Toddy Jones Park.

What better way to celebrate Canada’s birthday than cool history and ice cream with a cherry of fun on top!  Starting with a Canada D’eh, 5 k run to honor great Canadian Terry Fox at 9 a.m., then, enjoy a day filled with live entertainment, games and pony rides for the kids, race cars, mini militia, free cupcakes, musket firing and of course the grand finale of fireworks!

“This is one party you don’t want to miss. Entire families come out to spend time together on this very special day on the beautiful waterfront property at Fort Malden” says Anne Rota; manager of tourism and culture. “Thanks to a generous investment from the Ministry of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, and our proud sponsor; Windsor Family Credit Union, a phenomenal line up of activities fill the day.”

“Windsor Family Credit Union (WFCU) is thrilled to once again support the Town of Amherstburg’s Canada Day & Ice Cream Festival,” said Martin (Marty) J. Komsa, WFCU President and CEO. “Celebrating Canada’s birthday at such a popular family event and at one of the most beautiful and historic sites in our region, is something we [WFCU] look forward to.”
