An invoice of $13,302 by CAO Mike Phipps to the town for January has caused some concerns for at least one council member.

Councillor Diane Pouget questioned the bill at the March 3 meeting, noting that Phipps was in Florida for much of the month and didn’t return until the Jan. 20 meeting. However, those concerns were unable to be addressed last meeting as Phipps was not there due to him having returned to Florida.

He is due back later this month.

“When he’s here, you can deal with (the concerns),” said Mayor Wayne Hurst.

Later in the meeting, Pouget also requested a one-month extension from Entegrus on their offer to purchase the town’s Essex Power shares for $12 million. She also wanted the report from the consulting firm BDR to be released to the public and allow citizens a chance to read it before the public meeting council agreed to.

Town solicitor Ed Posliff cautioned that the BDR report may have to be redacted due to the town’s shareholders agreement with Essex Power. Council was agreeable to the extension request while noting Posliff’s comments with regards to the report.
