While the Amherstburg Minor Hockey Association (AMHA) celebrated three OMHA titles March 23, the day had even more meaning for the Beneteau family.

Trevor Beneteau and his younger brother Blake won titles hours apart as Trevor was part of the bantam major team that won against Port Perry while Blake was part of the novice major team that won earlier in the day in Fort Erie.

“It feels great. It was a whole team effort for both teams,” said Trevor. “I think it’s awesome both teams won. I couldn’t ask for anything better.”

Blake agreed that it was a great experience. Asked what the best part was, he simply replied: “winning.”

“It’s really special,” Trevor added. “I was down here while he was up there (in Fort Erie).”

Father Keith said they were keeping track of all three teams – the midget majors included – through their cell phones.

“We had a fun day of texting,” he said.

“It’s definitely a day I won’t forget. I know (Blake) won’t either,” said Trevor.

The novice team is finished for the season while the bantams gear up for the OHF tournament in Woodstock next weekend.
