Break-in at Maria’s Restaurant being investigated


The Amherstburg Police Service reports that a break-in was reported at Maria’s Restaurant Saturday.

The break-in is believed to have occurred overnight. Police do have a suspect and he is described as wearing black gloves, light-coloured pajama pants, black and white shoes and a light-coloured hoodie.

Amherstburg police add that a door was smashed out. It is not clear what, if anything, was taken in the break-in.

Thefts   A theft of lights was reported from the drive-thru Tim Horton’s location on Sandwich St. S. There are no suspects. Police say the theft took place about a month ago but was reported last week.

  • An employee at a Sandwich St. S. business had their backpack stolen last Friday. Police say the theft occurred at Little Caesars. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.


Mischief   Amherstburg police were called to The Fort Fun Centre last Saturday for a report of mischief. Police say around 11:45 a.m., the fire alarm was pulled. The investigation is ongoing and there may be a suspect.


Stats   There were 48 traffic offenses last week, two 911 hang-up calls and four alarm calls.
