Amherstburg police investigating attempted break-in at dental office



The Amherstburg Police Service is investigating an attempted break-in at a Sandwich St. S. dental office that was reported last week.

Police were called to Petras Family Dental last Thursday for a report that someone had apparently tried to enter through a back door. The door to the dental office was damaged, police say.

No entry was gained to the dental office. The incident occurred last Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

Accidents    Amherstburg police were called regarding a vehicle that had been struck in the parking lot at the Legion. The call came in Saturday, shortly after midnight. A 2003 Ford F150 had struck a 2008 Dodge Dakota and fled the scene.  Police located the vehicle and the driver, a 56-year-old Amherstburg man, was charged for failing to provide a breath sample.

  • Amherstburg police state that a 34-year-old Amherstburg woman in a 2010 Ford Edge struck a pole at Alma St. at Concession 6 Road South.  There were minor injuries reported. It occurred Friday just after 7:30 p.m. There were no charges as the accident was weather-related.
  • Amherstburg police state that on Saturday, at 1:31 a.m., there was a two-vehicle collision on Front Road North near County Road 10.  According to police, a 2007 Nissan made a lane change and struck a 2006 Dodge Charger. There were no injuries reported.  A 43-year-old male from Windsor was charged with turn not in safety.
  • A 21-year-old female from LaSalle lost control of her 2006 Pontiac on Alma near Concession  4 North and struck a culvert, Amherstburg police state. There were no injuries or charges as weather was bad with blowing snow at the time. It was reported to police last Tuesday around 11:45 a.m.


License suspension   Amherstburg police were notified by a passer-by that there was a vehicle in the 4100 block of Concession 4 North with a flat tire and a male passed out inside.  Police attended and issued a roadside breath test.  A 23-year-old male from Amherstburg was issued a three-day license suspension. It was reported to police Saturday at 6:15 a.m.


Stolen vehicle   Amherstburg police say that sometime between 5 p.m. Thursday and 2 a.m. Friday, a 2006 Ford Escape was stolen from the area of Balaclava St. South and Alma St.  The vehicle was found burning on Concession 12 in Essex, east of Walker Side Road. The matter is still under investigation.


Statistics   Amherstburg police had 143 total calls for service last week. There were 11 traffic-related charges.
