Amherstburg police continuing search for Saab after crash involving motorcycle

Amherstburg police are continuing to investigate a fail to remain accident that occurred last Friday at around 9:15 p.m. on County Rd. 9 (Howard Ave.) between Alma St. and County Rd. 18 which involved a motorcycle being forced off the road, injuring the 26-year-old male driver and seriously injuring the 27-year-old passenger, who is from Leamington.

Amherstburg police are now looking for a Silver 2000 – 2012 Saab 9-3 or 9-5 with possible damage to the driver side mirror and/or window that may have been involved in the collision.

*Amherstburg police say a single-vehicle accident occurred on Concession 4 North last Saturday around 3:50 p.m. where a vehicle left the roadway. A 29-year-old Amherstburg man was charged with failing to drive in marked lane.

Stats   Amherstburg police say there were 47 tickets issued last week for traffic offenses. There were 15 911 hang-up calls and 11 alarm calls.

Thefts   Two separate vehicles on Whelan Dr. were entered last week. One entry was reported last Saturday and saw a cell phone taken from the vehicle. The other was reported last Friday with change removed from the vehicle.

*A vehicle on Cambridge Court was also reported to have been entered with the matter reported to police last Friday. Police say spare change was removed from the vehicle.

*Another theft from a vehicle was reported last Friday with credit cards being stolen from a vehicle on Oxford Cr. Amherstburg police state that the cards were later found to have been utilized in Windsor. The matter is under investigation.

*A vehicle on Autumn Ridge Dr. was entered with the theft reported Saturday. It was unclear at press time what specific items may have been taken.

*Amherstburg police are investigating another theft from the laundromat on Gore St. Police say televisions were taken from the business, with the thefts being reported around 10:30 p.m. last Thursday. Anyone with information is asked to contact Amherstburg police.

*A pair of thefts were reported from lawns along Alma St. last Wednesday. Sprinkler heads were stolen from one home while solar lights were removed from the other. Both incidents are under investigation.

Stunt driving   An Amherstburg teen has been charged with stunt driving after being stopped last Tuesday evening on Highway 401.

The OPP have charged the 17-year-old after he was allegedly driving 71 km/h over the speed limit. The vehicle stop took place around 8:15 p.m. Sept 13.

OPP officers sopped a Jeep SUV around 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday as it was heading westbound near the Lakeshore and Tilbury border. The speed limit in the area is 100 km/hr, the OPP states.

The vehicle was seized for seven days and the youth’s driver’s license was suspended for seven days.
