Amherstburg GMThe official grand opening for Amherstburg GM has been celebrated with customers and dignitaries enjoying festivities last Tuesday night.

The ribbon cutting for the new dealership saw Mayor Wayne Hurst joined by members of the Rafih Auto Group, the dealership’s new owners, along with other dignitaries and dealership staff officially open the dealership.

Scott Elliott, general manager with Amherstburg GM, said the community has been enthusiastic about the change since the dealership was purchased in May.

“It’s been great,” said Elliott. “We’re getting good results from people in town since the change.”

Elliott said there is a “new attitude and new beginning” at the dealership, which is located at 432 Sandwich St. S.

“We’re a brand new business in the same building,” said Elliott.

Being part of the Rafih Auto Group is important, he added, stating they can give customers access to a wide variety of makes and models that Rafih offers. He said they have access to over 20 manufactures’ vehicles and to over 600 used cars.

“We can sell multi-brands,” he said.

Elliott also said they can service all of Rafih Auto Group’s brands and can answer questions customers may have about them.

The Rafih Auto Group was happy to assume ownership of the dealership and establish a presence in Amherstburg.

“It’s huge. We’re very excited about being in town. Amherstburg is a great town,” said Elliott. “We were very excited to purchase the dealership in Amherstburg.”

Elliott added that leasing is back with GM, which allows customers another alternative when looking to acquire a vehicle.

Zeyad Rafid, vice president of fixed operations with the Rafih Auto Group, thanked those in attendance for coming out and also thanked the dealership’s staff. He said they are looking forward to be a part of the Amherstburg community for years to come.

“We’re very excited to be a part of the Amherstburg community,” said Rafih.
