The partnership between Honeywell and the Amherstburg Fire Department is continuing with the fire department getting new boots thanks to a donation.

Roughly $10,000 worth of equipment, mainly boots, have been purchased by the Amherstburg Fire Department thanks to Honeywell’s donation. This is at least the fifth consecutive year that Honeywell and the Amherstburg Fire Department have teamed up on such a donation.

“It’s a great thing for us,” said Chief Randy Sinasac. “It saves us money on our budget.”

Over the years, donations have assisted the fire department in purchasing other necessary equipment including bunker gear, gloves, hoods and other supplies and gear. Sinasac said the department also goes through Honeywell when looking to purchase gear.

“We do purchase other items Honeywell makes,” said Sinasac. “It’s top of the line stuff.”

The chief added the donations help the fire department devote funding to other areas.

The Amherstburg Fire Department has a “close working relationship” with Honeywell, Sinasac pointed out, calling Honeywell a corporately responsible industry.

Vaughan Hansen, plant manager at the Amherstburg plant, said Honeywell is a proud supporter of local fire departments.

“The personal sacrifices and risks first responders make on a daily basis is invaluable,” said Hansen. “We want to support that.”
