Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce welcomes new general manager

The Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce (ACOC) has welcomed its new general manager and she is looking forward to the challenges her new job presents.

Monica Bunde

“It should be fun,” said Bunde. “I’m excited to get going on it.”

Bunde said promotional work could start this week on this year’s Mardi Gras event, to be held June 21 at the Verdi Club. In addition, the ACOC will attempt to put on more “networking” events in the coming year so that members may interact with one another and learn about various business-related topics.

“We’re going to be looking at networking events just to get all the members together and with guest speakers the members will be interested in,” she said.

The ACOC could also put on another event later in the year, though plans are in the preliminary stages and nothing has been finalized.

“We’re going to look into a signature event in the fall,” said Bunde. “We’re going to try and do something different.”

Bunde said the ACOC wants a good, working relationship with its members. The current number of members is 175.

“We just want to work closely with the membership and serve them,” said Bunde. “We want input from our members on what they want to see.”

Working in Amherstburg was something about the job that appealed to Bunde, stating she believes it is “a good fit” for her.

“I just love this town,” she said. “I love Amherstburg and I want to work in Amherstburg.”

Bunde has a degree in communication studies from the University of Windsor and formerly worked in loans and mortgages with BMO. She also has interned with WDIV-TV in Detroit and also worked on the news desk and as a morning show producer with the Windsor station now known as CTV2. Bunde said she also spent nine years in advertising and marketing and also has a home staging business in Amherstburg.

“I think all of that put together makes me a well rounded individual for this position,” said Bunde. “I strive for the best and that’s what I want to give to the members.”

The chamber’s board of directors is energetic, she believed, and eager for this year’s events.

“We’re really looking forward to this year,” she said.

ACOC president Ray Bezaire welcomed Bunde to the organization.

“We are very pleased to have Monica Bunde coming on board as our new general manager,” stated Bezaire. “We are thrilled to have someone of Monica’s caliber and background driving our organization. Through Monica, we look forward to providing a high level of customer service and programming to our members, and working with community stakeholders on initiatives that will help move the business environment in Amherstburg forward.”
