Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce holding AGM Oct. 30

The Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce (ACOC) is holding its annual general meeting in the coming weeks with the CAO being the guest speaker.

Chief Administrative Officer Mike Phipps will address the ACOC and field questions as part of his presentation.

ACOC general manager Lena Lazanja said the AGM will once again be at Royal Canadian Legion Br. 157 with the event starting at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at approximately 6 p.m.

“We welcome everyone including our members, our business community and the general public,” said Lazanja.

The ACOC, whose current president is Ray Bezaire, will outline its recent accomplishments and what the plans are for 2014. There will also be new directors elected that night.

In addition to speaking that night, Phipps will also address questions from the public. Lazanja said questions have to be submitted in advance with Oct. 25 the cutoff date questions can be submitted to the ACOC office.

“It will be a moderated forum,” said Lazanja.

Tickets are $15 and available at the ACOC office in the Gordon House.

“They have to be purchased in advance,” said Lazanja.

Phipps said he was approached by Lazanja to speak and hopes “to be in position to speak about changes in terms of customer service and procedures along with a summary of my observations of Town’s operations since I’ve arrived.”

Phipps will have a report on his observations coming to council soon as he said it should go before council before he is able to speak on it at the AGM.
