Allen shatters two SWOSSAA records as 18 athletes qualify for OFSAA West Regionals

Allen shattered the 2000m steeplechase record and 3000m senior boys record at the SWOSSAA Championship held in Sarnia and Windsor.

Allen ran the 2000m steeplechase in 5:58:56 and the 3000m in 8:34:56.

In addition Allen competed in three events by winning gold in the senior boys 1500m and captured the SWOSSA senior boys individual championship with a perfect 30 points.

Amherst other gold medal was won by Jasmine Hurst in the junior girls 80m hurdle with a time of 12.53.

The silver medals were captured by Jaiden Mulder in the midget girls 80m hurdles (12.85) and 200m (27.10.) Zack Riddell grabbed second in the midget boys discus with a distance of 36.93m.

Bronze medals were won by Joseph Gignac in the junior boys 300m hurdles (42.870, Rebecca Wynn in the senior girls discus (33.62), and Jared Capaldi in the midget boys 200m (25.37) and 400m (55.36).

In fourth place, Aleah Marton qualified for OFSAA West Regional with a time of 48.17 in the junior girls 300m hurdles as well did Caleb Cipkar with a time of 15.41 in the junior boys 100m hurdles.

Matt Pardo is also heading to OFSAA West running the junior boys 800m in 2:04:41. Joel Wilson qualified with a 12.94m jump in the senior boys triple jump.

Placing fifth and qualifying for the OFSAA West Regionals is Jasmine Hurst in the junior girls 300m and junior girls 200m. Matt Pardo in the junior boys 1500m. Matt Trymbulak in the senior boys 2000m steeplechase. Aleah Marton in the junior girls 400m and the midget boys 4by100m relay team of Tyler Trombley, Jared Capaldi, Eric Wismer and Aaron Hunter.

The General Amherst track team sent 24 athletes to the SWOSSA Championships and 18 athletes qualified for the OFSAA Regionals. These athletes will be competing in 24 events.

The top four from the West Regionals will qualify for the OFSAA All Ontario track meet, held in Oshawa.
