Activities to keep you busy during March Break

By Jolene Perron

With less than a week to go until March Break, there is no need to panic.

There are many community organizations who have programs to offer your children to keep them occupied this year during March Break.

Children ages 6 – 12 are welcome to register for a day camp at Good Shepherd Lutheran Christian Day Care. Their camp will be held from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. It will cost $17 per day. This cost includes snacks for your little ones, but they will have to pack their own lunch. Their theme this year is Space Station Salvation, and the entire week, your children will be “blasting off on an adventure”, says supervisor Ruth Krey. Your child will be doing crafts, having fun doing outdoor activities and so much more. To register call (519) 736-6979.

Grade school kids are welcome to register for City Of Refuge’s day camp. Children from grades two through eight are invited to attend. The day begins at 8:30 am and concludes at 3:30 pm. The cost is $20 each day. Crafts, movies, games and most of all, sports, are lined up for the little one to enjoy. If your teenager is looking to fulfill their community service hours, the program is still accepting volunteers. For more information on the program or to volunteer, call (519) 800-0220.

The House of Shalom Youth Centre will be open to all high school students Tuesday through Friday from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. In the past, the House was closed during certain school breaks, but this year, the doors will remain open; however, weekly meetings will be cancelled for that week. Pool, ping pong, board games or even just taking an afternoon to hangout with friends are all available options to utilize the hours of your teenager‘s day. The facility is available for all teens in grades nine through twelve. For information, contact Holly Kirk-McLean at The House of Shalom (519) 736-6811.

You can register your child for the United Communities Credit Union Complex day camp. The program runs from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.; in case you need to drop off or pick up your child early supervisors will be on duty from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Activities include games, crafts, and utilization of the ice rink and soccer fields.

Themed days will make the hours fly by. Zoo to You and Fort Malden’s The National Historic are both scheduled. The program costs $26 each day or $115 for an entire week. For further information contact Nikki at (519) 736-5712 ext. 4123
