Sue Varney never would have thought that her hobby would have led to her first-ever photography exhibit.

Varney’s work dubbed “Nature on Canvas” was topic of choice at the Mudpuppy Gallery’s closing reception, Saturday evening.

“I love to see colours and nature,” said Varney.  “I love photography, I have a strong passion for it.”

Sue Varney was very pleased with her first-ever photo exhibit at the Mudpuppy Gallery and hopes there will be more exhibits in the future

The self-taught photographer featured 12 of her pieces at the Mudpuppy Gallery, all of which were nature photos taken in her own yard on County Road 20.

Although the photos that were featured at the Mudpuppy Gallery were all nature scenes, Varney said she enjoys capturing the expression of children with her Nikon D5000.

“I love shooting children because their faces are so expressive,” she said.

Varney has also created a business out of her hobby.

Sue Varney Photography photographs everything from engagements/wedding to children, portraits and special events. She has even created her own website www.suevarneyphotography.com.

Varney said she is very proud to have to photos hanging in the Mudpuppy Gallery and mentioned she hopes more exhibits will be in the future.

“It’s just something I love to do,” Varney explained.
