ATV accident sends one to hospital

Amherstburg Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Alma Street for a ATV accident last Friday night.

Police state that an ATV with two occupants’ is believed to rolled over into the ditch injuring the passenger.

With the assistance of Amherstburg police, Essex-Windsor EMS and the Amherstburg Fire Department, the injured female was removed from a bush area and transported to hospital with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and police add that alcohol is believed to be a factor in the case.

Snow Removal Reminders   After Sunday’s heavy snowfall, the Amherstburg Police Service issued several reminders regarding what to do and what not to do after a snowfall. Police point out that town by-laws prohibit snow from being pushed onto the roadway when shoveling or clearing a driveway or sidewalk. All sidewalks must be cleared, police state.

Also, the use of ATV’s is prohibited on all roadways withing the Town of Amherstburg, police add.
